Together, we will make Columbus City Schools the best place to work and learn. But how?

Mounir’s plan for CCS includes…

  • Community-Engaged Decision Making

Many of the current school board’s failures have been due to a lack of community engagement in decision making. Our public schools belong to all of us, and decisions about their future should be shaped by the voices of students, families, educators, and community members. Mounir will champion transparency, build accessible feedback channels, and create a district-wide parent and teacher advisory board to inform board decisions. By prioritizing those closest to the classroom, we’ll make change based in fairness and justice that leads to positive student outcomes.

  • Equity and Opportunity for All Students

A student’s race, gender identity, or zip code should never determine their access to a world class education. Mounir is committed to allocating resources where they’re most needed, expanding access to arts, advanced coursework, and culturally competent education, and ensuring students with disabilities, LGBTQ+ youth, and multilingual students get the support they deserve to succeed amidst uncertainty and past failures by the district.

  • Directly Investing in Teachers and Staff

Teachers and school staff are the backbone of our education system. They’re experts, mentors, and advocates who make learning possible for our students every day. I will fight to uphold strong labor protections, honor and facilitate union contracts, and ensure educators have a real seat at the table when decisions are made. That means fully funding schools to provide safe working conditions and better wages, reducing class sizes, increasing the ratio of support staff to students, and protecting planning time so teachers can focus on what matters most: their students. By standing with our unions and listening to the people on the front lines, we can build a school district that values, recruits and retains its workforce, making CCS the best place to work.
